LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — One day after being confirmed, one of President Donald Trump's cabinet members visited Louisville Friday night.

Brooke Rollins was confirmed just yesterday as the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, and her first official visit outside of Washington, D.C. was right here in Louisville at the Kentucky Fair and Expo Center visiting the National Farm Machinery Show.

After speaking to the audience at the championship tractor pull in Freedom Hall, Rollins visited with the employees of companies like John Deere to learn more about the work they’re doing.

She also addressed a number of topics, like medicinal marijuana.

As Kentucky enters its first year of rolling out its medical marijuana program, secretary Rollins said conversations about legalizing it at the federal level are happening.

"A lot of conversations happening at looking forward or hearing more about that being briefed on it," Rollins said. "I think the examples of the states that have gone before either Kentucky or other states around the country is going to be really really important and in really look forward to learning more about it."

Secretary Rollins also addressed the issues concerning bird flu and the rising prices of eggs.

She acknowledged the challenge rising costs brings to families, and said next week her team will be taking more time next week looking at solutions.
