LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A judge dismissed charges against a former Clark County, Indiana corrections officer accused of giving inmates keys in the county jail.
Friday, Clark County Circuit Court Judge Nicholas Karaffa dismissed the case against David Lowe.
Lowe was arrested in October 2021 and charged with aiding an escape, official misconduct and trafficking with an inmate. The alleged assaults happened under the watch of former Clark County Sheriff Jamey Noel.Â
Noel is now serving a 12-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to 27 felonies for theft, obstruction of justice, tax evasion, money laundering, corrupt business influence and official misconduct.Â
Clark County prosecutor Jeremy Mull told WDRB after he looked at all the evidence in the case, he was "less than certain" that Lowe was guilty of the charges.
After Lowe's arrest, 25 women sued the Clark County Jail after Lowe's arrest, claiming he sold male inmates keys to the female dorms where some women were sexually assaulted.
Clark County settled that lawsuit for $328,000 last April.Â
