LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Oldham County's new judicial center opened Monday after several years of construction.
Construction on the newly-renovated Oldham County Judicial Center on Main Street in La Grange wrapped up in January after several years.
The project started in 2022 and faced some delays amid rising costs. The original 6,300-square-foot courthouse was raised and moved 44 feet backward, 22 feet west and 75 feet south to a new foundation.
The moving project included some demolition and the construction of a new 50,000-square-foot addition. The courthouse sits centered in front of the addition, which also includes increased security.
Built in the 1800s, records show the historic Oldham County Judicial Center was the second-oldest standing courthouse in Kentucky, but the building was decaying.Â
A dedication ceremony is scheduled for April 30.
