LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Multiple animals were rescued Thursday after a house in the Wyandotte neighborhood went up in flames.

Louisville Fire Spokesperson Donovan Sims said crews responded to a residential structure fire in the 700 block of West Evelyn Avenue at 9 p.m.

According to Sims, fire crews arrived within minutes to find the home with smoke visible from multiple sides of the structure. The fire was brought under control within about 15 minutes.

Sims said crews found no occupants inside, but did find a deceased dog. Two other dogs and a rabbit were rescued from the home. No one was hurt.

Louisville Fire said the fire was confined to the kitchen area of the home. The residents were displaced due to the fire, but declined assistance from the American Red Cross.
