LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear made a remark Tuesday morning on MSNBC that has him in a heated back and forth with GOP Vice Presidential Candidate JD Vance.
The morning after a Kentucky woman spoke at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago about being raped by her stepfather and becoming pregnant when she was 12 years old, Beshear went on Morning Joe to talk about Democrats' political efforts to restore abortion rights after Roe v. Wade was overturned in 2022.
Two years ago, Vance said this when asked about pregnancies stemming from rape:
"What kind of society do we want to have? A society that looks at unborn babies as inconveniences to be discarded?"Â
In an appearance on MSNBC on Tuesday morning, Beshear used Vance's word to make a point.
"Inconvenience is traffic," he told host Mika Brzezinski. "I mean, make him go through this."Â
"JD Vance calls pregnancy resulting from rape 'inconvenient'. Inconvenience is traffic... They don't have any empathy at all. And a president and a vice president have to have empathy."

Vance posted later Tuesday to social media, saying "Why is Andy Beshear wishing that a member of my family would get raped?"
What the hell is this?

Why is @AndyBeshearKY wishing that a member of my family would get raped?!?
What a disgusting person. https://t.co/11Kp1h92MN
Beshear then reappeared Tuesday afternoon MSNBC Tuesday, saying he'd never wish harm on anyone and any outrage about about what he had said was "deflection."
"It's ridiculous, but it's also deflection... he's trying to make himself the victim."
