LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A park in Louisville is turning 100 years old.
Portland Park at 640 North 27th Street was acquired by Louisville Parks and Recreation in 1924. To celebrate the centennial year in the park system, Louisville Parks and Recreation is hosting a party on Aug. 24 from noon to 3 p.m.
"Portland Park is a valuable part of the rich history of Louisville Parks and Recreation," Louisville Park and Recreation Executive Director Michelle King said in a news release. "Weāre excited to join the community in marking its 100th year in the neighborhood as a place for neighbors to relax and play."
The free celebration will feature food trucks, music entertainment, community vendors and birthday cake. Portland Community Center, located behind the park, will also be open during the party.
