LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The "can opener" strikes again. The problematic viaduct known for ripping the tops off trucks claimed another victim Friday morning.

A surveillance camera from Bluegrass Awning caught it happening at the underpass on Third Street near U of L's campus.

It was a US Express truck this time. The driver is fine, the trailer on the truck has seen better days.

If you live in Louisville, you know it's far from the first time this has happened.

There was the Werner truck in late February, a CTI truck last December, and many more.

Louisville police said since the first of this year, they've had at least seven non-injury runs to that intersection. Although all may not be related to the "can opener."

A spokesperson said citations are generally not written for hitting the viaduct. However, drivers can sometimes be issued tickets for no insurance, out of date log books, or improper registration after an incident.

In 2021, the governor reserved some money for flashing lights and a digital message to warn drivers about the can opener.
