Police said Jacob Collett, 28, got on I-64 at Grinstead Drive, and then drove eastbound the wrong way, hitting several cars before crashing near Mellwood Avenue.
It happened in the 1700 block of Mellwood Avenue, near the intersection of Frankfort Avenue.
Organizers call it the world's largest biscuits and gravy competition.
The closure is set to begin at 6:30 a.m. Saturday.
Jeff Way was arrested Tuesday evening.
