LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Thousands of people make it a tradition to visit Halloween on Hillcrest.
WDRB's Keith Kaiser explores the popular street that becomes spooky for one month out of the year!
The spectacle began as a competition between neighbors in the 1980s. Now, more than 50 homes participate with over-the-top, Halloween-inspired decorations.
Residents begin decorating yards on the first Saturday in October and keep the displays up throughout the month.
During October, there is an estimated 75,000+ visitors.
Everyone is encouraged to park their car and walk to enjoy all the decorations.
There is plenty of street parking available on Hillcrest and Pennsylvania.
Hillcrest Avenue residents are expecting up to 4,000 trick-or-treaters on Halloween night.
On Oct. 31 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., the houses along the street will be handing out candy to trick-or-treaters.
