SHELBYVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The Louisville Orchestra is taking music to the Commonwealth.
WDRB's Keith Kaiser learns about the "In Harmony Tour."
The Louisville Orchestra will visit communities across Kentucky, June 25–27.
They are bringing free outdoor concerts and community events directly to audiences in Glasgow, Elizabethtown and Shelbyville.
The tour was recently extended through 2028, thanks to a new $3.2 million appropriation from the Kentucky General Assembly. The total financial support for the project is $11.8 million.
Since launching in 2022, the "In Harmony Tour" has reached 50 counties, presented 235 events, and served more than 57,000 Kentuckians through concerts, school programs, library story times, and community partnerships.
The June tour features favorites including Bernstein's Overture to Candide, selections from Dvořák's Symphony No. 8 and Prokofiev's Symphony No. 5, Copland's Hoe Down, John Williams' iconic Star Wars theme, and more.
