LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Kentucky Derby Festival is filled with many unique events, especially the Great Bed Races.

WDRB's Keith Kaiser stopped by Broadbent Arena before the competition.

The Great Bed Races is wild night of racing. The challenge - grab four of your co-workers, build a bed on wheels, decorate it, dress in a ridiculous costume, and then race to the finish.

The 2026 theme is “Festival on the Move: Ticket to Ride."

Each year, thousands of fans gather to cheer on more than 30 teams.

The races feature two 600-feet divisions – the Fun Division and the Champion's Division.

Teams also compete for prizes for fastest times and most outrageous costumes and decorations.

Prizes will be awarded to the teams with the three fastest times, as well as awards for the “Cone Eater,” “Best Decorated Bed,” and “Most Entertaining.”
