LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – It's still summer, but a lot of people are sick and tired of this hot weather and they’re ready for fall.
Your plants might also be feeling the same way.
“We have a great selection here of some great transitional plants that can love the heat, but they can also love the cool weather too," said Jeff Wallitsch, of Wallitsch Gardens.
It’s also a chance to add some yellows, oranges, and reds that go along with fall décor.
Those include the Celosia, Zinnias and Marigolds, all of which are annuals, meaning they have to be replanted every year.
“I know a lot of people think Zinnias are super hot weather, but they can take the cold weather too. And they’ll bloom usually up until the first or second frost,” Wallitsch said.
Certain perennials like Coneflowers as well as sedums and succulents also do well during a summer-fall transition.
“And they love the heat, humidity, and also the cold weather too,” Wallitsch said.
As soon as pumpkins are ready, then you can throw in some pumpkins with these plant varieties and you’re ready for fall.
