LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- New flights are coming to Louisville's airport in preparation for the 2025 Kentucky Derby.

Delta has announced additional flights to the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport to meet increased demand during the Run for the Roses.

The new service will fly out of LAX in Los Angeles, to Salt Lake City and then on to Louisville.

The flight will operate on Thursday, May 1, and the day after the race, Sunday, May 4.

Officials said existing routes will operate with "increased frequency" from Delta's major hubs, such as Atlanta, Boston and New York.

There will also be more flights added from Atlanta, Boston, JFK and LaGuardia in New York, as well as Minneapolis-Saint Paul.
