LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Wawa will break ground on its first Louisville store this summer.
The fan-favorite convenience store will kick off construction on its new location off Preston Highway, south of the Gene Snyder, with a special event.
The event will be held June 5 at 9 a.m. at the site on Preston Crossing Boulevard, near Cooper Chapel Road.
Wawa will also announce which nonprofit partners it plans to support in Louisville.
Information about the project, as well as job opportunities, will also be available.
The location is one of several Wawa is bringing to the Louisville area. An 8th location was recently announced for the former Logan's Restaurant property on Dixie Highway and Kurz Way in the Pleasure Ridge Park neighborhood.
In September 2023, the chain announced several future locations in the Kentuckiana region, including four in Louisville.
The other Louisville locations include:
- 9650 Preston Crossing Boulevard, near Cooper Chapel Road
- 7203 Apple Mill Drive, near the intersection with Outer Loop and Vaughn Mill
- 4213 Bardstown Road, near Fegenbush Lane
- 12415 Taylorsville Road, near the intersection with Sweeney Lane
Wawa is a popular east coast gas station chain known for its cheap eats, hoagies, smoothies, coffee, and friendly staff.
The chain said it plans to open about 40 stores across the Kentucky region over the next 8-10 years.
Construction is already underway on the store's first southern Indiana location on Veterans Parkway in Clarksville.
