LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two men were arrested after police seized more a quarter pound of methamphetamine on Sunday in southern Indiana, according to Jackson County Sheriff's Department.
A Jackson County Sheriff's deputy located a Chevrolet Trailblazer traveling northbound on State Road 135 South whose registered owner, Cory Cowles, had an active warrant out for his arrest for a felony probation violation.
Police said deputies tried to stop Cowles, 23, but the Trailblazer continued northbound at a slow rate of speed and didn't immediately stop. The deputy saw items being thrown out of the passenger window, according to police.
The vehicle stopped on State Road 135 near First Street.
Cowles and Jose Sanchez Ortiz, a passenger, were ordered out of the vehicle.
According to police, a K9 responded to the scene and signaled to deputies that the vehicle had narcotics inside. A small amount of methamphetamine was located in the floorboard.
Police also found a large bag of methamphetamine and a glass pipe where police noticed items being thrown from the vehicle.
Cowles and Sanchez Ortiz, 36, were charged with dealing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, obstruction of justice, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and possession of paraphernalia.Â
Cowles was also charged with a felony probation violation warrant, while Sanchez Ortiz was charged with a misdemeanor warrant.Â
