LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A check on a stranded driver in southern Indiana ended in an arrest for drug and weapons.
In a news release, Indiana State Police said a trooper found a black SUV on the side of US 50 near North Vernon around 9 a.m. Sunday. It was partially blocking some lanes, so troopers stopped to help.
The driver, later identified as Christopher Spall, 33, of Greenwood, Indiana, stated he did not need any help, but troopers said they spotted signs of possible drug activity in the vehicle.
Troopers deployed K9 Bosco, who alerted to the odor of drugs coming from the car. They found about 23 grams of suspected meth, marijuana and a loaded AR-15 style rifle inside the SUV.
Spall was taken to the Jennings County Jail and booked on felony charges including possession of meth with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon. He was also charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.
