LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An Indiana man faces multiple charges after leading police on a pursuit through Jackson and Scott counties.
In a release, Indiana State Police said Nicholas Nature Lewis, 20, of Indianapolis, Indiana was in a stolen Maroon Dodge Charger SRT southbound on Interstate 65 just before 8 a.m. on Tuesday. Indianapolis Police said a handgun may also be in the vehicle.
An ISP sergeant from the Versailles Post spotted the car near the Seymour exit and tried to make a stop along with Seymour Police. The driver sped off, and the officers lost sight of the Charger in southern Jackson County.
The Charger was finally spotted by an Indiana State Excise officer, as the driver attempted to get gas at a station at the Crothersville exit, but the driver wasn't able to get fuel and ended up speeding away southbound on US 31 into Scott County.
An ISP Sellersburg trooper spotted and tried to stop the Charger as it approached Booe Road, where a Crothersville K9 and Austin Police unit tried to set up stop sticks. As the Charger continued south, it collided with the Crothersville Police car at the intersection of US 31 and Booe Road. Police said Lewis then fled on foot along nearby railroad tracks, but he was arrested a short time later and taken to the Scott County Jail.
