LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The man who was the target of the police raid that led to Breonna Taylor's death in 2020 failed to appear in court Wednesday on several drug charges after he was arrested last weekend.
Now, prosecutors believe Jamarcus Glover is on the run after he saw a warrant for his arrest for violating his probation.
The judge and a packed courtroom waited for Glover’s name to be called Wednesday, only to find out he wasn’t in the courthouse.
A judge had issued the warrant for Glover's arrest for violating bond on a heroin case from 2019. That's now a $100,000 full cash bond that's not to be posted prior to his arraignment.
On top of an arrest warrant for that 2019 case, prosecutors have now requested another arrest warrant for failing to appear on his most recent charges.
In addition, prosecutors have requested that Glover's probation be revoked in the case centered around the raid in which Breonna Taylor was killed on March 13, 2020.
Glover pleaded guilty to a litany of crimes in 2021 – mostly drug trafficking and possession – and was sentenced to five years of probation, with an eight-year prison sentence hanging over his head if he violated the conditions of the agreement.
As part of the plea deal, Glover was supposed to move to Mississippi.
The Jefferson Commonwealth's Attorney's office will ask a judge on Monday to revoke his probation based on the new charges and Glover being found with a gun.
Investigators planned to talk to the three people who posted Glover's $20,000 bond after he was arrested Sept. 30 by the St. Matthews SWAT team.
Detectives opened an investigation into Glover after a 13-year-old girl overdosed and died on fentanyl allegedly provided by Glover in April 2023. According to court documents, Glover lived in the same home where the girl died. He and two other people are accused of using children to traffic drugs.
"In April of this year, St. Matthews Police responded to the 5800 block of Prince William Street on a 13-year-old female that was in full cardiac arrest," St. Matthews Police Maj. Eddie Jones said Monday. "The medical examiner's office determined that the cause of her death was overdose by fentanyl. Our investigators learned early on that Jamarcus Glover was one of the residents in this apartment. They also learned of the secondary address that was on Taylor Boulevard. So, very early on, he became the focus of our investigation.
"Mr. Glover and several individuals that were all located at the Taylor Boulevard address were arrested and charged with trafficking narcotics," Jones said.
Jones said weapons and drugs were found at both the homes. Glover and two other adults were arrested at the Taylor Boulevard residence. Jones said three teens found at that location were also charged.
Glover was charged with engaging in organized crime, unlawful transaction with a minor and being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun, with more charges possible as the investigation continues.
He will now be charged with failure to appear.
Prosecutors have asked for his probation to be revoked.
