LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man went before a judge Thursday accused of driving more than 90 miles per hour above the speed limit.

Ashton Koppel, 22, is charged with speeding, reckless driving, wanton endangerment and fleeing or evading police.

According to his arrest citation, in April, police clocked Koppel driving 127 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone on Preston Highway in Louisville's Okolona neighborhood. The arrest citation also said Koppel was weaving in and out of lanes, passing cars at speeds exceeding 130 mph.

In addition, police said Koppel had a passenger in the front seat who was not wearing their seat belt.

Police attempted to stop Koppel at Preston Highway and Blue Lick Road, but he sped off at a high rate of speed and turned off his headlights, according to the citation. Police again tried to stop him at Preston Highway and St. Rita Drive, but Koppel didn't stop. While he was fleeing, police said he ran three red lights and almost hit a car in an intersection with the right-of-way.

On Thursday, a judge placed Koppel on home incarceration for 60 days, after which he will be on probation for five years.
