LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man was shot and killed near the Park Hill neighborhood on Sunday night, according to Louisville Metro Police.
LMPD responded to a shooting on W. Oak Street at Dr. W.J. Hodge Street around 7:40 p.m. When police arrived on scene, they found a man on the sidewalk who had been shot outside a home.
The man, who hasn't been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
"There are numerous shootings and homicides in the past week or two weeks close to this area," LMPD Maj. Russell Miller said. "You have families that are hurting, kids that are hurting, we need to get these violent criminals off the streets."
LMPD's Homicide Unit is investigating the shooting, but there aren't any suspects.
Miller encouraged people to help police solve crimes with tips that could lead to arrests.
"The only way we're going to be able to do that is to have the public step up and help us solve these crimes and help us bring justice to these families that are hurting from their loved ones being shot and killed out here," Miller said.
If anyone was in the area at the time or may have information, they are asked to call the anonymous police tip line at 502-574-LMPD (5673) or use the crime tip portal, click here.
The shooting on Sunday night followed another violent incident less than 24 hours earlier.
On Sunday morning, a man was shot to death in the Park Hill neighborhood. Police responded to a ShotSpotter run in the 2500 block of Woodland Avenue just after midnight.
Police found a man who had been shot multiple times and he was pronounced deceased on the scene. Two other men were taken by private means to UofL Hospital after being shot at the same location. Both of those victims are expected to survive, but there aren't any known suspects in that shooting either.
