LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A west Louisville housing project known for crime is undergoing a complete transformation.
The first buildings were demolished Friday at Beecher Terrace. More than 100 families have been relocated while the work happens.
The first new building to go up will be a four-story apartment complex for seniors 55 and older. It will include amenities like a fitness center and office space.
Once the project is completely finished in 2023, 640 new housing units will be built. A $30 million federal grant is helping to pay for it.
