LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Zoo has a new resident tiger.

Viktoria, a 3-year-old female Amur tiger, comes to Louisville from Rolling Hills Zoo in Kansas.

She has completed her standard quarantine and acclimation period and is now on rotation.

“Connecting families with the precious animals that call our planet home is important, and our Zoo is truly a living classroom," Mayor Craig Greenberg said in a news release. "I hope people will come out this winter to meet these important ambassadors for their species.”

“Amur tigers are endangered, and zoo leaders plan to breed Viktoria with Timmy, a male Amur tiger.

Zoo leaders said winter is the perfect time to visit since Amur tigers are built for cold weather and love the snow.

Wild Winter Days run through the end of February, with discounts available for guests who donate canned food to Dare to Care.
