LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A NuLu tattoo shop is teaming up with YMCA Safe Place to spread holiday cheer to at-risk kids.

Tattoo Salvation is hosting a toy and supply drive at its location on East Market Street through Dec. 23.

"Tattoos are the shops where you meet a lot of people in a lot of different situations; and this time of year, (we're) just always trying to figure out how to do something that will help (someone)," Jesse Fraser, who owns Tattoo Salvation, said.

They're asking for toys, games, art supplies, and sketchbooks for kids 12 and up.

They also need hygiene products and basic necessities, such as: Feminine products, deodorant, and socks.

"(YMCA Safe Place) does a lot of after school stuff for kids, tutoring, and just giving them a safe place to go after school, to do work, get help, or just hang out, instead of having to just wander around, potentially, you know," Fraser said. "So, it's a good central spot to reach a lot of people. (They'll) impact people's future by getting them set up to be in a better situation, post high school, stuff like that."

Fraser said anyone who donates at least $20 worth of items will get a $50 gift card to Tattoo Salvation as a thank you.

Gift cards are limited to one per person, but for every item you donate, your name will also be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a $500 gift card.

"It feels good. Just, I know, there's people out there that have it harder than we do and getting tattoos is certainly a luxury thing. It's not a requirement, not something you need. So, by virtue, anyone coming in here is sort of in a better off spot than others," Fraser said. "It's just nice to be able to give back a little bit."

Tattoo Salvation is located at 632 E Market St #102, Louisville, KY 40202.
