Construction on the newly-renovated Oldham County Judicial Center on Main Street in La Grange wrapped up in January after several years.
Plans are moving ahead -- but those plans will take longer to execute than originally expected.
The move started in March to accommodate a 47,600 square foot expansion in the heart of La Grange.
The updated building will feature new courtrooms and offices while maintaining the historic part of the building.
The historic portion of the Oldham County Courthouse will be moving in the coming weeks as part of a $29 million project.
Steve Kaelin, Oldham County Circuit Court Clerk, posted on Facebook at the courthouse will move to a temporary space on Central Avenue in a former IGA Grocery store in Crestwood.
The design will incorporate the 52,000-square-foot historic portion of the current building.
In a 5-1 vote Tuesday, officials decided the 146-year-old courthouse will be demolished and replaced.
A three-story option would build up and around the current courthouse. A two-story option would see the current courthouse demolished and replaced.
