LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- New Albany native and former Trinity High School standout Rondale Moore’s comeback lasted just one play.
The 24-year-old wide receiver, who played for Jeff Brohm at Purdue, suffered what Minnesota Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell called a “pretty significant” injury to his left knee on his first touch in Saturday’s preseason game against the Houston Texans.
Moore missed all of 2024 with a dislocated right knee suffered in training camp with the Atlanta Falcons. Signed by Minnesota to a one-year contract this offseason, he was expected to be the Vikings’ punt returner and a depth option at receiver.
On his first return, Moore was tackled awkwardly by Texans linebacker Jamal Hill and had to be carted off. O’Connell called the injury “heartbreaking” and said an MRI is scheduled for Sunday.
A second-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals in 2021, Moore has battled injuries throughout his NFL career.
The 2018 Paul Hornung Award winner was scheduled to undergo an MRI on Sunday.
