LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The first BlueOval SK battery plant in Glendale, Kentucky, is on track to start production in 2025.
Officials provided an update on the construction of the plants in Hardin County on Wednesday.
The facilities will make batteries as Ford ramps up its fleet of electric vehicles. According to BlueOval SK, more than 348,000 cubic yards of concrete has been placed on the construction site to date.
There's also been more than 15,000 tons of reinforcement steel put in place and crews have hung more than 457,000 square feet of drywall.
The first plant is on track to start production in 2025. The second plant was scheduled to come online in 2026, but has been delayed.
