LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two men were arrested by Bardstown Police after a nearly yearlong investigation that led to more than $1 million worth of illegal drugs being seized.

The Bardstown Police Department, Kentucky State Police and Homeland Security executed 28 search warrants in Lebanon, Danville and Campbellsville from Feb. 22-23. Police said drugs were being distributed around the region.

"In the course of executing those search warrants, we seized approximately five-and-a-half kilograms of cocaine from an address," Sgt. Michael Clark, with the Narcotics Unit at the Bardstown Police Department, said Tuesday. "And then on the following day, on Friday the 23rd, we executed some additional search warrants. And in those search warrants, we recovered approximately seven ounces."

Clark called the drug bust significant. Police said the cocaine that was seized was worth $1.8 million. Two guns and $37,000 in cash were also seized.

"The investigation began in early 2023, so it's been going on for several months," said Clark.

Carlos Hurrigan, 33, of Danville, and Mark Bell, 53, of Lebanon, were both arrested. Clark hopes their arrests send a message to drug dealers in the area that they're coming.

"I certainly hope so, especially with a unified effort across the board with the local and state and federal law enforcement agencies," he said.

Police said the investigation is ongoing, and they have not ruled out more arrests.
