LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The man accused of shooting and killing another man at a Louisville restaurant won't serve any more prison time after being found not guilty on some of the charges against him.
Devone Briggs, who was already out of jail after posting a $70,000 cash bond, was on trial for the murder of Jose Munoz at the Olive Garden Restaurant on the Outer Loop in February 2019.
Late Monday afternoon, a jury found Briggs not guilty on all homicide charges, but guilty on four counts of wanton endangerment for the four children who were involved.
Friends and witnesses said Munoz was trying to stop a fight after Briggs pushed a small child that bumped into him.
Briggs was arrested and charged with murder and wanton endangerment. He was indicted in April 2019, but is out of jail after paying a $70,000 cash bond.
He argued he was immune from prosecution because he was acting in self-defense.Â
The maximum sentence for Briggs is 365 days, which he has already served.
