LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man was found dead near Fourth Street Live! after a report of a shooting on Sunday.

LMPD spokesperson John Bradley said officers responded on a reported shooting in the 300 block of South 4th Street just before 4 p.m. This was near the Chipotle restaurant.

"It's unfortunate. You can't escape it," Pete Vitiello, who is visiting from California, said. "Mike and I were joking when we saw the tape and the flashing lights. 'It's probably a you know, a shooting,' because, in LA, it's --- I don't want say, an everyday thing. It's a three, everyday thing."

Police found a man with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased on the scene.

"Unfortunately, it's the world we live in now. It's kind of sad," Vitiello said.

"I'm sure that this is not a great day for anybody," Mike Ralph, who is also visiting from California, said.

"So, yeah, whoever's family, or whoever the person was, it's just nobody deserves this, nobody," Vitiello said.

Louisville anti-violence activist Christopher 2X Game Changers told WDRB: "Unfortunately, as it relates to this situation and others in this month, we're in a continuum holding pattern from the end of 2023, as it relates to gun violence still plaguing the Metro Louisville community; and what makes this so concerning is that it really shows the brazenness of a downtown shooting in the tourist district."

WDRB crews noticed police reviewing nearby surveillance footage.

"We live in a society that's ... we got either, were screaming at you yelling at you, or cursing you out, shooting you, knifing you, but that's you know, that's ... it's sad because most people are good, but unfortunately, all you hear about is the bad stuff," Vitiello said.

LMPD's Homicide Unit is investigating. LMPD said there are no known suspects at this time.
