LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Some powerful spoken word and songs sounded through Metro Hall in downtown Louisville as Mayor Craig Greenberg hosted a celebration for Black History Month.
The "Go Back and Get It" celebration was held in the Mayor's Gallery Tuesday evening.
Several singers and speakers talked about remembering the struggles of the past and keeping up the fight for a brighter future.
"For decades, the instruction by omission was that Black people hadn't contributed anything to civilization or this country," said Joi McAtee, with the Louisville Office of Equity.
The event was hosted by the Louisville Office of Equity and Roots 101 African American Museum.
