LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The chrome was shining and engines revving Saturday in honor of Louisville Metro Police Officer Nick Wilt.
Nearly 200 bikers gathered at the Eagles Club in Jeffersontown for a fundraising ride to help officer Wilt with his medical bills. The ride was escorted by Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and sponsored by the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3903, UAW Local 862 and the Bill Young Memorial Foundation.
Wilt was shot after a gunman opened fire in April at the Old National Bank in downtown Louisville.
Riders said Saturday's ride was a way for them to give back
"Look at the beautiful day that we have. Look at the great people we have out here to support Officer Wilt,"Â said Jimmy Ford, a motorcycle rider Saturday. "Considering what he did for us, this is a small price to pay. It was a no-brainer. Had to come out."
The fundraiser also had live music, food, an auction and raffles.
