LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A former Madison Consolidated School District school resource officer pleaded guilty to child exploitation Friday.
Tim Armstrong, 65, pleaded guilty to attempted child exploitation and official misconduct as part of a plea deal.
In Nov. 2023, Indiana State Police said Armstrong had "inappropriate communication with a juvenile male student" multiple times between April and August 2022.
During that time, Armstrong worked as an SRO in the Madison school district. In August 2022, the district acknowledged there was an ongoing external investigation after getting a report of misconduct on Aug. 18.
Armstrong was put on administrative leave and resigned shortly after from both his position in the school district as well as his post as a Jefferson County sheriff's deputy.
Armstrong was facing an additional nine charges, including child seduction, vicarious sexual gratification and inappropriate communication with a child, but those charges were dropped.
The prosecutor recommended five years probation. Armstrong's sentencing is March 16.
Before serving as a school resource officer in the district, Armstrong was a former police captain and served as mayor of Madison from 2008-11.
