LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Grammy Award-winning artist will perform at the Louisville Urban League's gala during Kentucky Derby week.

The nonprofit will host its annual Derby Gala, "Mardi Gras Louisville," on May 1. The party at the Norton Sports and Learning Center in Louisville's Russell neighborhood is the preeminent fundraising event for the Louisville chapter of the Urban League. 

According to a news release, the gala will feature musical artist Jon Batiste and DJ Mannie Fresh. Batiste is a 5-time Grammy Award winner. 

The Louisville Urban League is dedicated to eliminating racism and its adverse impacts on the community with a mission to assist African Americans and other marginalized populations in attaining social and economic equality through direct services and advocacy. The organization is focused on jobs, justice, education, health, housing and Black business.
